Privacy Policy
ChessInsights.ai is committed to transparency. We do not store your personal information. To improve our chess board recognition technology, we collect limited, anonymized usage data only if you explicitly provide your consent.
Scope
This privacy policy covers the ChessInsights.ai browser extension.
Terms
- ChessInsights.ai - The ChessInsights.ai browser extension
- We/Us - The developer of ChessInsights.ai
Settings
Your preferences (e.g., UI theme, detection settings) are stored locally in your browser’s storage. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
Analytics and Usage Data
To help us understand how the extension performs and to improve our board recognition algorithms, we may collect anonymized usage statistics (e.g., button clicks, successful/failed board detections).
This data collection is strictly optional and requires your explicit consent. If you opt-in:
- We use random, non-identifiable identifiers (UUIDs) for users and sessions to distinguish unique usage patterns without identifying the individual.
- We do not collect your name, email, passwords, or the actual images/screenshots of your screen.
- Analytics are processed via a privacy-focused tool (Umami) and are used solely for internal development purposes.
Error Reports
ChessInsights.ai does not automatically collect detailed error logs. If you encounter a bug, you may report it through our GitHub repository. Please avoid sharing sensitive or personal data in public reports.
Data Security
We use industry-standard methods to protect the data stored in your browser. Since we do not collect personal information (PII), there is no database of user identities at risk on our end.
Cookies
ChessInsights.ai does not use cookies to track your browsing activity across the web.
Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices. Major updates will be announced via an update note within the extension.
