ChatLocal is designed to keep your data on your device.

What ChatLocal does

- Sends your prompts and selected page text only to the Ollama server you configure.

- Stores extension settings and, if enabled by the extension, local chat data in your browser storage.

What ChatLocal does not do

- Does not collect personal data for the developer.

- Does not send your data to analytics, ads, or tracking services.

- Does not sell or share your data with third parties.

Permissions

ChatLocal may request permissions needed to read selected page content when you use summarize or translate, store preferences in browser storage, and connect to your configured Ollama server.

Your control

You control the Ollama server ChatLocal connects to. If you point the extension to a remote server instead of a local one, your data will be handled by that server under its own privacy and security practices.
